The article notes that one poll showed only 11% of transgender respondents had all of their identity documents that accurately reflect who they are. Prior to this article, were you aware of the issue? Can you name some of the places in which having no-match documents could cause challenges and/or discrimination? How do you think you would feel and respond if this were the case for you?Â

Why do you think that making this change took such a long time? Do you think it is because people don’t understand the issue? Is it primarily politically-driven resistance? Or is it something else entirely?

Saturday, November 20 is the Transgender Day of Remembrance. In 2021, there have been at least 44 transgender or gender non-conforming people murdered by violent means including, most recently, a beloved member of the PFLAG Tampa family. What are some of the ways that allies can use this commemoration to educate others? What are some of the ways that this day is commemorated? Do you plan to attend any events in your community, and why?
