Something to Talk About: January 2020

Looking for ways to keep the conversation going about LGBTQ+ issues with your ERG, community group, or PFLAG chapter? Welcome to Something to Talk About, a monthly series designed by PFLAG National’s Straight for Equality program to create conversation about LGBTQ+ issues. Each month we’ll offer an article on LGBTQ+ topics and suggest a few questions you can use to lead a discussion.

Author: Chloe Atkins

Questions for Discussion:

  1. Have you ever thought about the financial, safety, and/or other barriers that trans men and non-binary folks who menstruate may encounter? Why or why not?
  2. If your organization currently has gender neutral restrooms and facilities available, do you know if they include access to menstrual hygiene products and a place to throw away menstrual products? If not, is there anything your group can do to improve access?
  3. After reading this article, do you think the way you talk about menstruation will change? If so, what language will you use to be more inclusive?
