Do You Have a Plan to Vote This November?
Did you know that LGBTQ+ voters made up roughly 7% of the electorate in 2020 and that nearly half of LGBTQ+ voters report that they are more motivated to vote in this year’s midterms? Were you aware that many reports say that if LGBTQ+ voters had stayed home in 2020 that the presidential election may have turned out differently?
We hosted a conversation about this article as a part of PFLAG Connects and Something to Talk About Live on Thursday, July 28. Did you miss it? You can still watch it here!

Questions for Discussion:
Are you currently registered to vote? Have you confirmed that your voter registration is accurate and up-to-date? Have there been any laws passed in your state that weaken or strengthen voting rights since the 2020 election?
The author of this article notes that “Over the past few decades our community has registered and voted like never before…” referring to LGBTQ+ voters. What has motivated LGBTQ+ voters to become more politically engaged?
What resources are you aware of that can help you to register, educate, mobilize, and protect voters in your community?

Something to Talk About Live is a series designed by PFLAG National’s Straight for Equality program to create conversation about LGBTQ+ issues. Each week we offer an article on LGBTQ+ topics and suggest a few questions you can use to lead a discussion with your ERG, community group, or PFLAG chapter.
