The Role Of Business In LGBTQ+ Equality

This episode of Something to Talk About Live, we will be discussing Holly Quinn’s article in Technical.ly, “How to ensure your workplace is LGBTQ friendly” with Deena Fidas, Managing Director and Chief Program & Partnerships Officer at Out & Equal and Sabrina Kent, Executive Vice President, Programs & External Affairs at NGLCC.

  1. Do you ever use tools, like the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index or NGLCC Certifications, to help you make purchasing decisions? Why or why not?

  2. The article lists six ways that small businesses can demonstrate that they are LGBTQ+ friendly. Do you agree with the list? Would you add anything?

  3. What, if any, role do you think corporate leaders and small business owners should have in shaping public policy? Does the public reaction to the actions of companies like Disney and Exxon surprise you?
