What’s This? Personal Pronouns
Many people, including members of the PFLAG National and Straight for Equality program staff include, their personal pronouns in their email signatures. You might be wondering why.
First, and most importantly, it is a quick and easy way to vocalize inclusion as well as to support, celebrate and affirm our transgender and non-binary colleagues.
Second, it lets everyone we communicate with know where our values lie and that we envision a world where diversity is celebrated and all people are respected, valued, and affirmed inclusive of their sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.
And lastly, it can be a conversation starter that allows us to lead with our allyship and educate new and potential allies about gender identity, gender expression, and the gender spectrum.

Just be sure to also include a link to some of PFLAG’s great resources like the guide to being a trans ally, Our Trans Loved Ones (also available in Spanish), or our workplace learning session catalog so people can continue their education about personal pronouns and why they matter.
