Many people, even well-intentioned allies and members of the LGBTQ+ community, have never heard the words asexual or aromantic. Leveraging PFLAG’s more than 50 years of experience, this session will:
- Review terminology related to sexual orientation, romantic orientation and other orientations that have to do with how we relate to others;
- Discuss the experiences of people who are asexual and/or aromantic in different life areas;
- Name and then dispel common myths about people who are asexual and/or aromantic; and
- Consider a variety of ways to show up as a stronger ally to people who are asexual and/or aromantic.
To discuss common myths and stereotypes about asexual and/or aromantic people and recommended behavior changes for allies, this learning session does include conversation about sexual relationships and experiences.
